Summer Deaver is a multidisciplinary artist, yogi, activist, and community organizer whose work bridges the realms of visual art, spiritual practice, and social transformation. With a BFA from the University of Georgia (1999), her creative foundation was shaped by the rich culture of craft, folk art, and the neo-psychedelic lo-fi music scene of Athens, GA. Her art blends street and folk aesthetics with spiritual symbolism, drawing deeply from over two decades of study in Yoga and Buddhism.

Summer’s practice spans printmaking, painting, ceramics, and murals, each medium serving as a vehicle for philosophical inquiry and healing. Her hand burnished prints are often infused with Sanskrit or Tibetan giving them an archaic feel. Her oil paintings evoke emotional intensity through elemental landscapes, while her hand-formed tea bowls embody tactile presence and ritual. Her murals—featured at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Whitechapel Projects—are large-scale invitations to collective care and reflection.

Her work resonates with contemporary movements such as surrealism, abstract expressionism, and eco-spiritual art, often exploring the relationship between nature, trauma, and transformation. Through bold color, symbolic imagery, and layered textures, Summer creates immersive visual experiences that challenge viewers to engage with the sacred in the everyday.

As Director of the Caroline Huber Holistic Wellness Center at Brookdale Community College, Deaver leads with compassion and a trauma-informed lens, advocating for environmental regeneration and social justice. Her art and leadership are intertwined—both rooted in the power of presence, daring kindness, and inclusive community building.

Summer’s work has been exhibited in NYC at AG Gallery, Cinder Gallery, and The Kitchen, Whitechapel Projects, Memorial Sloan Keetering, Over the Moon Studios, Lucida Gallery, The ArtPod and she has spoken at the Rubin Museum of Art on the intersection of art and spirituality. She currently lives and works on the Jersey Shore.
